Ngorongoro Crater

The Ngorongoro Crater is often called "Africa's Garden of Eden" — and once you see it, you'll understand why. This massive volcanic caldera, roughly 20 kilometres wide, shelters one of the densest concentrations of wildlife anywhere on Earth.

Descending 600 metres into the crater floor feels like stepping into a lost world. Here, around 25,000 large animals roam freely — including black rhinos, lions, elephants, flamingos, and hippos — all within the natural walls of this ancient volcano.

The crater is also a fascinating place to learn about the Maasai people, who have coexisted with wildlife here for centuries. Their colourful culture and traditions add a deeply human layer to this already magical destination.
